Quick and Easy Chili Recipe

I like when recipes are simple to put together. It makes it easier to cook something after a long day at work. Today’s recipe is chili! It is quick and easy (compared to cooking it in the slow cooker for many hours), and you can customize it however you’d like.

Time: 1-2 hours

Chili Ingredients List:

  • 1.5 pounds of ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 tbsp olive oil, to brown the beef or turkey
  • 1 can (15 oz) of tomato sauce
  • 6 grape tomatoes, quartered
  • 1 cup of water
  • as much chili seasoning as you prefer (depending on if you like it mild or spicy)
  • salt and pepper to your taste (I usually eyeball the amount)
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 1 can of kidney beans (15.5 oz)
  • 1 can of pinto beans (15.5 oz)
  • shredded cheese and/or sour cream to serve (optional)
  • tortilla chips to serve (optional)

Directions:

  1. In a stew pot, heat up the oil on medium heat and brown your ground beef or ground turkey.
  2. Add the 1/2 chopped onion and continue until they soften.
  3. Stir in tomato sauce, tomatoes, water, beans, chili seasoning, salt and pepper.
  4. Stir occasionally.
  5. Bring to a boil.
  6. Turn to low, add lid, and simmer (continue stirring occasionally).
  7. Let simmer for at least 30 minutes for flavors to combine.
  8. Serve with shredded cheese, tortilla chips, sour cream, or cornbread.

Enjoy! Let me know how you like your chili? Mild or really hot?!
