Engaged

Two months ago today, my love and best friend (E) asked me to be his Mrs! It was a special day not only because he asked me to marry him, but because he asked me to marry him on my 25th birthday. A week or so prior, he asked me what I wanted to do for my birthday. He wanted it to be somewhere outdoors, so I choose a park across the street from our church.

We picked up some sushi and had a picnic at the park. Upon arriving, I noticed that two of our friends were standing in the parking lot. One had a camera in his hand, and the other was standing by. I asked E why our friends were there. His reply “hmmm I don’t know. Let’s ask them!….(to our friends) “What are you guys doing here?!” One friend said “we wanted to surprise you for your birthday.” Still not fully buying it, I gave them the benefit of the doubt. My other friend said that she was going to put my gifts in E’s car and would be back. (Mind you, the camera from friend #1 had disappeared into friend #2’s purse). E mentioned that he had told our friends to be there to surprise me, but they were early. E and I found a spot to put down a blanket so we could eat. He wasn’t able to eat (rightly so because he was nervous), and I couldn’t eat because I was sick with a cold and had no appetite. After a few minutes, E said he had something for me that he wanted me to partake in, but if I couldn’t because of my appetite, it would be fine as well. He walked off and left me sitting on the blanket for some time (picture seen below). During that time, I was praying for God to prepare me emotionally in the event I would be proposed to that day.

Contemplating if I was going to be proposed to today and praying I would be emotionally prepared when he would ask.

Clearly, my friends were hidden away watching it all unfold! E walked back towards me with a change of nice clothes and one hand behind his back. He then asked me to stand up. He told me several things and then he went behind a tree and lit up a candle on a cupcake. He came towards me, knelt down on one knee and asked me to marry him! And of course, I said YES!

My friend came all prepared with a hair brush, three lipsticks to choose from, and this chalkboard with a chalk marker to use for our impromptu engagement pictures. After, the four of us went out to celebrate with prosecco and some food.

I am so thankful to the Lord for the man he brought into my life and for the season of our engagement.

Thank you to my amazing FIANCE who picked out the most beautiful ring for me. Thank you to our friends for pulling off the surprise and taking awesome pictures and being ready for us with props and all.
