I finally got around to posting the pictures from my family trip to Washington D.C. this past April. The highlight of our trip was seeing the cherry blossoms in peak season!
All the walkways and underneath the cherry blossom trees were filled with people from all over the world looking at the breathtaking array of light pink and white blossoms lining the Tidal Basin. This year I focused on taking candid pictures as opposed to strategically taking “perfect” shots. I absolutely love the picture below of the couple walking, hand-in-hand, through the cherry blossom trees with the sunlight bursting through the limbs.
We saw various presidential helicopters, one which was Marine One, because President Trump was landing at the White House lawn.
My mother loves cherry blossoms and we took a lovely picture together.
My brother posing for me in front of the Capitol building. He looks so spiffy!
Of course, we stopped by a coffee shop: Commonwealth Joe Coffee Roasters. The coffee helped warm me up from the cold outside. The decor is airy-industrial.
We visited the Washington Cathedral. The Neo-Gothic architecture is beautiful! The cathedral was built in the early 1900s.
We made our way to Georgetown Cupcakes and waited in line for 30 minutes. Although my brother got impatient, I was very calm because I knew there were cupcakes waiting for me at the end of the wait. They all looked delicious! My two favorite cupcakes were the Red Velvet Cupcake and the Lavender Earl Grey Teacake (pictured with the purple frosting).
Finally, no DC trip is complete without visiting the Lincoln Memorial at sunset.
