Christmas Gala Event Decor

Christmas in January? I thought we need to wait at least half a year before hearing about it again. Yes, its true, but I wanted to share with you an event we did at my church this past December. My young adult group put together a Christmas gala for young adults and the pastors and their wives.

Upon arriving to the gala, everyone walked through the arch draped with red chiffon and pretty lights. I just love how the lights twinkle through the chiffon, so beautiful! As you can see, we had market lights strung across the ceiling.

There I am in the champagne dress! (Purchased it at TJMaxx.com)

Once we, the leaders in our group, announced that we wanted to have a Christmas gala, I volunteered to do the decorations. To be quite honest, I had no idea which direction I wanted to go with the decorations. This was my first time decorating for an event, so I was somewhat nervous, but still calm about it. I rummaged through Pinterest to find a theme. I had a few ideas for the centerpieces, but the color theme was still an issue. Finally, I came across a pin that showed a brown wood table with a fresh green garland going across as a runner. I thought this would be beautiful to recreate with Christmas tree trimmings. And just like that, I found a theme: brown, champagne, green, and cranberry red. The theme turned out to be a simple, elegant, rustic style.

Although I decided that the centerpieces should be different across the tables, there were certain elements that needed to be on each table: a brown tablecloth, champagne runner, Christmas tree trimmings, some form of cranberry red, and candles. I found the tablecloths and runners on TableClothsFactory.com. They were very affordable and had good quality. As I was putting the table cloths on the table, I did notice that they were slightly sheer when held up to the light, but on the tables, they looked phenomenal.

We bought many of the centerpieces, and others we borrowed from friends. The main stores we used were: Hobby Lobby (so many great finds there!), Ross, A.C. Moore, and Kirkland’s.

I just love this reindeer candle holder. It is one of my favorite centerpieces from the night.

The tree bark cupcake tier was found at Ross. We placed plastic snow, mini ornaments, fairy lights, and woodland creature figurines and Christmas tree trimmings across the table.

Again I am showing you the reindeer centerpiece because it is beautiful with the candles on its antlers. The reindeer was borrowed so I am not sure where it is from. It was placed over a tree trunk slice surrounded by Christmas tree trimmings. On the reindeer’s sides, there were large pillar candles placed within a wreath (found at A.C.Moore).

This was by far my favorite centerpiece from the entire night. I found three glass vases at Hobby Lobby (on sale at 50% off!). The center vase was filled with a pillar candle, plastic snow, and fresh cranberries, and was placed on a tree trunk slab pedestal (found at Ross). The other two glass vases were filled with water, a floating candle, Christmas tree trimmings, and fresh cranberries. Beside the smaller vases, I found two ivory ceramic tea-light candle holders with a Christmas tree decoration at A.C. Moore.

Another centerpiece included this lovely, distressed ivory six-tealight candle stand (Hobby Lobby). It was placed over a Kirkland’s wood serving board (similar one found at Bed, Bath & Beyond). It was also surrounded by Christmas tree trimmings, faux cranberries and two glass vases. The inside of the vases had a mixture of pine cones, faux cranberries, greenery, and fairy lights.

We had a total of six tables, but only four of them are shown in this post. I had taken pictures of all the table settings, however, I lost several pictures. Unfortunately, those two other tables were part of that loss. However, my friend came to the rescue and let me have some of his pictures from the evening.
