Happy 2023! It has been a long time since I have posted here on my blog. To catch you up, my husband and I have an almost two year old daughter that has been keeping us busy. Last year I opened up an Etsy shop selling stickers and earrings, all while still teaching middle school science. From the time my daughter was born until now, our time and energy has been directed towards making memories with each other and focusing on my Etsy shop. As a result, there are areas in our home where organization and order have been neglected.
Cue the end of 2022: something needed to change.
Towards the end of 2022, I knew something needed to change. Although I have tendencies towards letting the house get to a state of entropy, it was becoming apparent I could not handle it any longer. To be clear, my home has never looked like a Hoarders episode, but I felt a need to declutter and reorganize was on the horizon. My daughter is a little tornado in the home, and if one day God blesses us with another child, I want to have an organized structure so that we don’t have more mini tornadoes wreaking havoc in the home. It’s better to work smarter, not harder.
Throughout January 2023, I have listened to Marie Kondō’s “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up” and Clea Shearer’s “The Home Edit: A Guide to Organizing and Realizing Your House Goals”. These two books have inspired me to work towards creating a home I love and be able to feel relaxed in.
My goal this year is to declutter, tidy, and style my home to be a place that we, and others, can feel comfortable, refreshed, and loved. I can’t wait to take you along on this journey.
